Gran Selezione Chianti Classico

 

Last born in the Casaloste family, it expresses all the refinement and power of the Sangiovese grape produced in the Chianti area. It is obtained by combining the balance of the grapes coming from the best selections of the Eastern and Western sides of the farm. In fact, the morning light allows the grapes to express the greatest alcoholic strength while the afternoon light intensifies the aromatic sphere of the Sangiovese itself.
The first year of production for this label is the 2011 vintage.

Grapes: Sangiovese 100%

Vinification: Stainless steel vats of 50 HL , dry selected yeasts for long aged red wines that are able to release a great amount of polysaccharides into the wine, soft extraction of polyphenols from skins with the use of delestage”.

Aging: for 18 months in French oak barriques (Allier) 30% new 70% one years old with microxigenation

Color: intense ruby red with garnet reflections

Nose: has a well-balanced bouquet of ripe red fruits, such as plum and maraschino cherry, spicy notes of sweet tobacco, licorice and balsamic finish.

Taste: elegant, velvety taste, supported by a low acidity. It has still young tannins that denote the possibility of long aging. Wine with a persistent and enveloping finish that tends to a very characteristic bitter chocolate.

It goes well with: red meat and aged cheeses.

Service temperature: 18°

Production: 4.000 bottles per year
